For over a decade, Comandante® founder Bernd Braune has been working on innovative concepts for conical burr sets. "Built for the wild Nature and expeditions have always been a big part of my life. And I’d never head outdoors without a proper tool to make a fresh cup of coffee. I had this idea of a universal burr, something that could handle everything I love: light-roasted washed Typica and freshly cooked flatbread by the fire.
Light-roasted beans behave differently. Their higher density and lower brittleness change the way they fracture. Most traditional burr geometries just don’t have the bite or sharpness to handle them well. Out in the field, I also grind green spelt and rye grain for outdoor flatbread – totally different to work with, and equally demanding.
