COVID-19 Response

Service Update Effective 3/18

Dear Friends,

This has been a very difficult time for all of us. But we feel we must act in the best interest of our staff and our community. For that reason we have made the very difficult decision to temporarily close all Bird Rock Coffee Roaster retail cafes effective March 17, 2020 at 6pm or before. We will re-evaluate on April 17th.

This is heartbreaking. So many of you are friends, and like family, to all of us. But the need for social distancing is the most important part of helping the community around us at this time.

Our great coffee will still be available via online ordering at www.birdrockcoffee.com Please support us by ordering, or even setting up a reoccurring orders, on a weekly basis. Send coffee to a friend or family member across the country. We have been here for 15 years supporting our community and we are now asking you to help us, if you can. I understand many of you will be unable, in which case we will do what we can to support you. We must all get through this together.

Service Update Effective 3/17

In order to provide you and our team members the safest environment while still being able to enjoy your cup of coffee, starting tomorrow morning all BRCR locations will operate as a walk-up/takeaway service only. Although no seating or tables will be available, we will still be here to be your daily dose of positive vibes, a good laugh, and a happy hello.

We encourage you to download and use our app (link in our bio) to make the transaction the smoothest and %100 contactless. 🙌🏻

We will keep you updated as we adjust and accommodate to this evolving situation.

Message From our Owner:

Greetings everyone and we certainly hope you are all enjoying your coffee while digesting the changing news of the day.

This is a brief note to assure you Bird Rock Coffee Roasters is staying on top of the rapidly changing nature of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and closely following the public health recommendations for the local and state health departments, the Center for Disease Control & Prevention and the World Health Organization to ensure that our guests and employees remain safe and healthy.

Our commitment to making our guests feel confident when purchasing coffee or food at our cafes is our highest priority. We are continuing to adhere to strict cleanliness standards and procedures. We are regularly disinfecting high-traffic areas and commonly touched surfaces including tables, doors, condiment stands, and countertops. We are continuing our regular (every 15-minutes) handwashing procedures or anytime staff changes stations or takes a break. We are deep cleaning our cafes after cafe hours and most importantly, making sure any sick employees are staying home.

We will continue to monitor the ever-evolving situation carefully, staying close to the communication from federal agencies, health organizations, and other experts.

We will make it safely through this Pandemic by keeping our staff, customers, family, and friends are safe and informed.

Here are just a few of the steps we have taken to make things easier and safer for you to ensure that you can continue to enjoy your coffee without worry. The well being of our customers and team members is our top priority.

  1. Paper cups have replaced ceramic ware in all of our cafes until further notice.
  2. We have stopped accepting “reusable" cups until further notice.
  3. Please let us pour the cream and sugar to avoid cross-contamination.
  4. We encourage you to use our App to place your orders in advance. It will save you time and payment can be made directly through the app avoiding the transaction at the register. It is quick,  easy and available on iOS and Android.
  5. We have installed Apple Pay and Touch Pay the register.
  6. Cash payment is accepted, for now, however contactless payment is preferred.
  7. Credit / Debit transactions no longer require a signature.
  8. Please do your part by avoiding handshakes, high-fives and please be aware of social spacing.

We thank you for your continued support and we hope to see you soon, from a socially acceptable distance, of course.

Join us in the new #foothighfive or #footshake movement to help us keep it sanitary.

With much Love and Respect from all of us at Bird Rock Coffee Roasters.

Lets get through this together. If great coffee is created by collaboration, so are local business survival by great customer support.

THANK YOU.

    Hi Bird Rock Coffee,

I am a supply chain professor at University of San Diego. I am working on a research looking into different models how companies/industries empower farmers and growers up in the supply chain. Your direct sourcing from farmers came to my attention and I find this model quite interesting. I wonder if you would be open to a chat to learn more about your collaboration with coffee growers? Thank you.

My name is Jason Hobbs – Executive Producer of Sully’s show from KOGO radio and KUSI television.

Sully has been interviewing local business to talk about how the Coronavirus haas affected them and also to bring some much needed free exposure to folks like you.

Any chance we could get a 10 minuter interview to talk about how you folks started your business and then of course, this current situation and how you will proceed moving forward?

    Thanks so much!
