This elegant coffee was the highest scoring coffee in the Guatemalan Cup of Excellence competition this year 2020. This is an exceptional washed geisha.
It differs from the previous lot we offered in the processing and precise selective picking. This Micro-Lot was cared for specifically for the C.O.E. competition. The unique and complex flavor profile shows why this lot won 1st place.

Juan Diego de la Cerda's Finca El Socorro has proven to be one of the very best coffee farms in Guatemala. Winning 1st place, with a Maracaturra variety coffee in 2007, and then again in 2011. But thats not all, his coffees have placed in the Top 5 of COE consistently year in and year out. It is this very consistency that made us jump at the chance to become Direct Trade partners with Juan Diego, and we're proud to continue offering Finca El Socorro's coffees every year. Such consistent results made us jump at the chance to become Direct Trade partners with Juan Diego, and we're proud to continue offering El Socorro's excellent coffees year after year.

ABOUT CUP OF EXCELLENCE:

"Cup of Excellence is the most prestigious competition and auction for high quality coffees. The level of scrutiny that Cup of Excellence coffees undergo is unmatched anywhere in the specialty coffee industry. Each year, thousands of coffees are submitted for consideration. The Cup of Excellence competition has pioneered integrity and transparency in the coffee industry, ensuring the value of winning coffees. Each sample entering the competition process is assigned a number known only to the auditor for each competition, and each jury member cups the coffee blind. In addition, each lot is documented through the entire process so that winning coffees are traceable to the farm and exact micro-lot."
